Mind over Money

Ten tips on creating a millionaire attitude

By Paul B. Farrell, MarketWatch

ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. (MarketWatch) -- A new study by DataMonitor says the
number of American millionaires rose from 7.3 million in 2002 to 8.5 million in
2004. At the current 7.1 percent annual growth rate, we're creating a million
new millionaires every year, a total of 12 million millionaires by 2008. You can
join those folks. Here's the secret: It's all in your head, your attitude, your
state of mind. If you want to retire a millionaire, you can. You control your
mind. A few decades in business convinced me of this one simple truth: Becoming
a millionaire is all in your head. It has little to do with wealth-building
techniques, tools and rules.

In fact, you could even forget all the usual stuff: asset allocation, stock
picking, savings plans, budgeting and so on. I know that's what advisers,
pundits, brokers and other experts tell you to focus on. But if you're not in
the right state of mind, none of that matters.

Seriously, I've read all the books: "The Millionaire Mind," "Instant
Millionaire," "Automatic Millionaire," "Millionaire Next Door," "One Minute
Millionaire" and many more. I even wrote one, "The Millionaire Code." But I keep coming back to this one simple fact: It really is all in your head!
Period. Here are 10 tips I picked up over the decades, tips that'll help you
become one of America's next millionaires:

1. Getting rich isn't about money

Peter Lynch says if you spend 15 minutes a year studying the economy, that's 10
minutes too many. And when money guru Ric Edelman researched 5,000 millionaires
for "Ordinary People, Extraordinary Wealth," he discovered that millionaires
spend an average of just six minutes a day on personal finance. They have better
things to do. Get a life!

2. Accentuate the positive

Most of us have read books like "Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude."
That message was summarized for me by a U.S. Army Special Forces instructor, a
veteran of 26 years: "If you have a guy with all the survival training in the
world who has a negative attitude and a guy who doesn't have a clue but has a
positive attitude, I guarantee you that the guy with a positive attitude is
coming out of the woods alive. Simple as that."

3. Think differently

Go inside "The Millionaire Mind" with author George Stanley: "They think
differently from the crowd ... It pays to be different." Yes, being different
helps build wealth. That's the central theme of his work: Don't fit in, go your
own way.

4. Quit doing what you hate

Many people live in quiet desperation, waiting for retirement, doing something
they hate. Marcus Buckingham put it very simply in his new book, "The One Thing
You Need to Know:" Figure out what you don't like doing then stop doing it.

5. Do what you love

You've heard all the pep talks: Follow your bliss; do what you love, money will
follow. Never forget Stanley's bottom line: "If you are creative enough to
select the ideal vocation, you can win, win big-time. The really brilliant
millionaires are those who selected a vocation that they love."

6. Find 'the real you!'

Working in a career that doesn't fit right is exhausting and stressful. You're
less efficient, less productive. Get in sync with the real you. Get help from a
career counselor. Read books on personality types. In "The Millionaire Code" I
identify 16 basic types to help people focus on their dreams. Buckingham's "Now
Discover Your Strengths" is another example. Find the real you, go for it and
never turn back!

7. Invest in 'You, Inc.'

Tired of working for Corporate America? Become an entrepreneur. Create your own
business. Read Kiyosaki's "Rich Dad" series. Browse through "EBay for Dummies."
Open a Starbucks franchise. Most millionaires work for themselves, pay less in
tax, live below their means and build equity in themselves.

8. Live with passion

Believe in something. Listen to the still small voice. What is it: Love, family,
jazz, art, golf, writing, fishing, inventing? Whatever it is, it's you. And it's
priceless. My mentor Joseph Campbell said: "If you follow your bliss, you will
always have your bliss, money or not. If you follow money, you may lose it, and
you will have nothing."

9. Live in the moment

A good friend is in his 60s. When I mention retirement planning, he laughs. He
talks about his next vacation. His new jet skis. He's survived divorce,
bankruptcy, foreclosure, health problems. He has a successful business, nice
house, lots of debt. He's at risk. I couldn't do it, but he's happy. We all have
friends like him, living in their moment. You need to live in yours.

10. Make a difference!

Most of us focus on our little world and our future. Millionaires dream of
making the world a better place, with visions of a better tomorrow for everyone.
They love helping people. I'll bet you have such a dream. Discover the real
meaning of life by going beyond yourself and make a difference!
Remember, being a millionaire is all in your head. If you got the right
attitude, if you feel it, if you believe you're a millionaire, you're already
there. The money will follow. Trust me.

I believe we are blessed to be a blessing. That's my ultimate reason.

Personal Confession for Every Day

Thank you for sharing this my Brother in Christ Jack Weinzierl.

If God said it in His Word, the Bible, we can be sure He will keep His promise….and expectancy is something you can choose intentionally. If you have resistance, check your current Mindset with what I am sharing today, work through it and hopefully this will challenge you to get into God’s Word and see for yourself what promises He has for you.

I set the course of my life today with my words:
I declare today that I will not be defeated, discouraged, depressed or disappointed today.

I am the head, I have insight, I have wisdom, I have ideas, I have authority.

I exercise my authority today with my words and I decree a thing and it is so.

Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4) …the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead, lives in me… (Romans 8:11)

As I speak words today, they come to pass (Job 22:28); they go before me, they bring the things to pass that I desire; and they stop all attacks, assaults, oppression, and fear from coming to my life.

God is on my side today and, therefore, I cannot be defeated.

His favor surrounds me today as a shield. (Psalm 5:12 ). I expect favor today from heaven and from the earth.

Jesus had favor with God and man (Luke 2:52 ) , and as He is so am I on this earth. (1 John 4:17)

Therefore, I have favor today with God and man.

I expect and receive favor in my home, favor in my job, favor in my business, favor in my ministry, favor with my finances, favor in every deal I am involved in.

I have the wisdom of God today. I will think the right thoughts, say the right words and make the right decisions in every situation I face today.

My mouth speaks wisdom and my heart is filled with understanding. (Psalm 49:3)

I ask for, and receive, an abundant supply of wisdom and understanding today from God (James 1:5)…wisdom from above, wisdom that is pure, peaceable, gentle, unwavering, willing to yield, without hypocrisy. (James 3:17)

Wisdom and understanding are better than silver and gold and nothing I desire can compare with them; therefore, I make it my ambition and desire to have understanding and wisdom; therefore I know I will have all of the other desires of my heart. (Proverbs 8:10-11)

My words go before me in securing my divine health and healing…

I will not be sick today; I will not be sad today; I will not be broke today; I will not be confused today.

I have health today; I have joy today; I have all the money I need in the name of Jesus.

My steps are ordered by the Lord… (Psalm 37:23)

I have a covenant with God and by the blood of Jesus I release my divine protection and divine provision.

My angels are carrying out the Word of God on my behalf.

I receive supernatural strength and encouragement from God and my angels. Angels carry out the Word of God and every word that I speak that lines up with the Word of God is being carried out by angels, even now as I speak. (Psalm 103:20)

I expect to have divine appointments today, to run into the right people, and to be delivered from the wrong people.

Any adversity, attack, accidents and tragedies that were headed my way are diverted right now in Jesus’ name.

I speak to the raging waters in my life: Peace, be still.

I say to my emotions, peace, be still.

I say to my mind, peace, be still.

I say to my body, peace, be still.

I say to my home, peace, be still.

I say to my family, peace, be still.

Now I speak to:

every mountain of fear

every mountain of discouragement

every mountain of stress

every mountain of depression

every mountain of lack and insufficiency

And I say, “Be removed and cast into the sea in Jesus’ name!” (Mark 11:23 ) I expect the best day of my life spiritually, emotionally, relationally and financially today in Jesus’ name.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:11-13)

Now if you are having resistance to those confessions then I encourage you to experience the JOY of expectancy.

James 1:17 reminds us, "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

"Many Christians have quoted Jeremiah 29:11 and James 1:17 but they still live with negative and false expectancy about God. Romans 8:31-32 explains how the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is our assurance of God’s favor:
"If God is for us, who can be against us? [God] who did not spare his own Son [Jesus Christ], but gave him up for us all--how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?"

Instead of being anxious, are you assured that God will provide for you and your family?

Do YOU expect to have favor with God?
The Bible calls us to this biblical expectancy. Expect to have favor with God, and you can expect joy to fill your life.

Due Diligence?

I'm sharing this because I can still do it and not be prosecuted for it and even if I was it wouldn't matter because I serve an almighty God and I know that greater is He (Christ Jesus) in me that he (man) who is in this world.

This message has two parts. I'll share some thoughts first and then my friend and brother in Christ Tim Darnell will share on Due Dilligence. I met Tim back in October while attending a Conference in Dallas, Texas. We've had lunch together and attended another Christian training event together. I can tell you that Tim is truly a man of God and I have the fortune to call upon him at any time. Yes, he knows my nickname is "PeeWee". Just a thought...Can you call on your corporate president anytime? Do you pray with him? Tim's message below is right on target. How do I know? Well, being honored to serve as the President of our School Board, I just received notice that The Fifth Circuit Court recently referred to the Doe v. Parish Sch. Bd. case stating that prayers before school board meetings violates the Establishment Clause and therefore the prayer must be non-sectarian, non-proselytizing. What??? That means you can not say the name Jesus, Christ, Lord, in Him, in His name, Lord, King, or any religious name in prayer. Tim addresses this point in his message below. The prayer is to be be pretty lame, something like this "Hello, we're not sure if you are there, whoever or whatever you are and we certainly are not making any effort to convince anyone that you or anyone is there but just in case, we could use some help. We've got something to do here and if you are there or around here or available, we could use some help or wisdom or anything you could provide because we don't really know what's right, wrong or whatever. We're just a bunch of animals on the loose and we need guidance and don't really know where to get it if your there? Thanks. Amen...can I say Amen? Oh well, bye."

And to think people wonder why there is so much corruption in the world.

Now, here is Tim's message.

The idea of doing due diligence about a business opportunity is an intellectually sound thought. However, it will predictably steer you into the exact wrong direction. How so, you are asking?

Imagine you lived in about 28 AD and you heard about a guy named Jesus from the little town of Nazareth who was coming into town. You'd heard some good things and you might have even read some manuscripts written about Him by other people.

But you want to be sure before you make your decision about Him. You want to find out if He is the 'real deal' or not. Nothing wrong with that thought process is it? So, what would your game plan be? I know, we'll go to the authorities and ask them what they think.

First, we'll ask the Romans what they think about Jesus. You immediately hear all kinds of wild things about this trouble-making fraud who was creating dissension and espousing crazy ideas. Yeah, I thought so - my suspicions are starting to be confirmed.

OK, but his letters did sound pretty good. The letters and the accounts from the Romans don't match up, which makes me a little confused. I guess I'll check out another source - the religious authorities, the Pharisees. They sure know the law and the prophets. These are smart guys with a lot of money - they'll know.

Whoa! If I thought I'd gotten an earful from the Romans, these high-ranking Jews have nothing but terrible, terrible things to say about this man, Jesus. In fact, they are spreading detestable and preposterous things about this man that makes me more confused than ever. But at the same time, how could I have been so stupid to fall for those positive letters about this guy, Jesus? The Romans and the Pharisees agree that he is a no good, self-serving criminal.

I'm just going to have to pass on this guy Jesus. He's getting bad reports from those who are in the know...

Or are they 'in the know'?

If you do a Google search on Rick Warren, Joel Osteen, Creflo Dollar, Pat Robertson, James Dobson, or virtually any man who publicly stands up for Christ, you'll find several positive entries and then a whole slew of the most awful, condemnatory articles you can imagine. The venomous demonization of these men comes with the territory and accentuates the spiritual battle that is going on daily - darkness attacking the light.

You see, Jesus was not only a man worthy of listening to, He was God, the Truth, the Way and the Light. Public opinion and statements from authorities about Him were exactly WRONG.

The statements that have been made about several modern day Saints are exactly WRONG as well. While you or I may not agree with everything they believe or stand for, they are still great men of God and are not deserving of the filth and lies that are regularly published against them.

So, whose side are you going to be on? Are you going to consult the so-called authorities, or maybe a website that attracts the least successful people on the planet who have no life other than to spread rumors and lies - and are you going to believe them? You are welcome to do so, but you'll be listening and reacting to total nonsense and non-truth.

Deceit-filled information is not Truth, though millions fall for the deception every single day. Witness Titanic's James Cameron's heretical new film that supposedly exposes our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ - are you going to believe him? It's up to you. It's the same negative message that was going on while Jesus was alive, and it's only amplified now via sophisticated technology.

Our so-called, 'authorities' are at this very moment passing legislation to ban the mention of Jesus Christ in the few places that are left where He can be talked about. This very e-mail will get blocked from a major portion of my list of subscribers because many ISPs have filters with the name above all names in their list of banned words. My own mother cannot receive the Messenger due to its filters that weed out the Messenger and classify it as "questionable".

An article came out recently about me and I knew beforehand, due to the content and purpose of the paper that published it, that it would attempt to paint me in as negative a light as possible. They did a good job - stating among a long line of ridiculous assertions that I had renounced my United States citizenship. That's a good one - I'm impressed by the creativity in their passion for destruction.

Who are you going to believe? Its up to you, but just remember, Christianity is under attack, and the battle lines are forming. Which side will you be on?

II Timothy 3:12 states: "In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted." The apostle Paul knew. He wrote those lines from prison, arrested for standing up for Jesus.

I have no problem regarding my own persecution - being on the receiving end of lies and rumors is nothing compared to what many Christians endure every day, especially in foreign, non-Christian friendly nations. I wear the persecution as a badge of honor. At the same time, I hate to see people who profess to know Christ not have the maturity and discernment to know the difference between the Truth and lies that dominate our airways.

Several of you have made the decision that I'm a crazed derelict. You fell for the lies. You got snookered and satan is grinning from ear to ear - another triumph among many.

Due diligence? I don't think so - lies don't qualify as due diligence, they qualify as propaganda from the father of lies who is very good at his game - effectively fragmenting Christian people with deception that passes as truth. Truth it is not.

How do we retaliate? We don't. We just grow a huge business that helps people in so many ways, you would have trouble fathoming the good that is going on. And that makes me grin from ear to ear. We're winning and, by the way, if you haven't read the Book - we win in the end as well!  Tim D.
